Picking at Yquem started on the 3rd and 6th of September with bunches of perfectly ripe, healthy, golden Sauvignon Blanc grapes that will be used to produce “Y”. Two hundred people of all ages and from all walks of life seemingly enjoying an outdoor activity together in a joyous atmosphere, resembling nothing so much as a poster for a famous vacation club… However, appearances can be deceiving… While the “picture post card” aspect is undoubtedly there, you won’t find anyone lazing under a coconut tree! On the contrary, everyone is working hard at a very demanding job throughout the vineyard.

Because a great vintage takes shape grape by grape, we count on our experienced pickers to be extremely demanding during all stages of picking, called “tries successive” in the Sauternes region.
